Why Builders2U
One licensed contractor. Not your phone number sold four times.
Our team has been connecting homeowners with licensed contractors since 2015 — more than 3,600 of them in 2025 alone. In all that time one thing about this industry has not changed: most quote sites make their money selling the same request to as many contractors as will buy it. We make ours by making one introduction that works. That single difference decides almost everything else on this page.
What that actually means for you
One contractor, not four
Your request goes to a single licensed contractor we match you to. It is not sold to a group of them, so you are not fielding calls from strangers for the next week.
Vetted before they reach you
License, insurance, bond and background check are on file before a contractor is eligible for a single job, and we re-confirm the license and insurance every year.
Free to you, always
You are never charged for a match, a consultation, or a quote. Contractors pay us for the introduction under a separate agreement with them.
Your permission is on the record
We record when and where you gave permission to be contacted and by which channels, so both of us have the same record of it. You can ask us to stop at any time.
What we check before anyone works on your home
A contractor does not get sent to a homeowner on a phone call and a handshake. Six things are on file first, and every one of them is a document we can produce.
A current trade license
We confirm the license for that trade is active with the state board and keep a copy on file.
General liability insurance
We hold a current certificate of insurance for every contractor in the network.
Bonding
Bond information is on file before a contractor becomes eligible for work.
A background check
Run before a contractor is admitted to the network, not after a complaint.
A signed agreement
Every contractor signs an agreement carrying their license, insurance, bond and background check details before they are sent to a single job.
Re-checked every year
Once every calendar year we re-confirm that the license and the insurance are still current. A certificate that lapsed nine months ago is not a certificate.
Checking a contractor’s license, insurance, bond and background is not a warranty of their workmanship. The contractor is responsible for the work, the warranty, and the permits.

We tell you, and that is the end of it.
The left column describes the shared-lead model common across this industry. It is not a description of any particular company.
What we do not promise
Every quote site tells you what it will do. Here is the other half, so you can decide whether we are worth your details before you hand them over.
- We do not promise a price, a timeline, or a number of quotes.
- We are not a licensed contractor. We do not perform the work, price it, or quote on a contractor’s behalf.
- Vetting a contractor is not a warranty of their workmanship. The contractor is responsible for the work, the warranty, and the permits.
- We never collect, hold, escrow, or disburse construction funds. You pay the contractor directly.
- Coverage depends on which contractors hold a current license in your state and serve your postal code. If none do, we will tell you rather than take the request anyway.
The full arrangement — who contracts, who performs the work, and who gets paid — is set out on how it works.
